On 23 September 2026, we had two Impromptu Seminars at AITHYRA, hosted by Georg Winter and Michael Bronstein.
Mihaela Peycheva, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Group of Christoph Bock at CeMM, the Research Center for Molecular Medicine gave a talk on “Tertiary Lymphoid Structures as a Tool to Dissect Antitumor Immunity”. Mihaela was trained at the IMP, where her PhD work dissected the fundamental mechanisms driving genome instability in B cells. Her current research focus at CeMM is on combining bioengineering, functional genomics, next generation sequencing and in vivo models to build novel immunotherapy platforms.
Moritz Schaefer, Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University, School of Medicine working with Jure Leskovec and Zinaida Good gave a talk on “Multimodal Agentic AI for Precision Medicine”. Moritz holds a PhD in Systems Biology from ETH Zürich and BSc/MSc degrees in Computer Science from TU Berlin. At CeMM and the Medical University of Vienna, he conceived and led CellWhisperer, a multimodal model that lets scientists explore single-cell data through natural language (Nature Biotechnology, 2025). At Stanford, he extended this approach to histopathology (SpatialWhisperer, ICML 2026).
