Legal Requirements
Aithyra GmbH is a 100% daughter company of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and therefore committed to the Bundes Public Corporate Governance Report (B-PCGK). The report has to go through the financial year-end audit and is published each year on the website of the institute. In terms of Good Scientific Practice and Research Integrity, Aithyra follows the rules of the Austrian Agency for Research Integrity (ÖAWI). Regulatory compliance is a foundational element of this strategy.
Aithyra must operate according to Highest Standards of Accounting Principles and legal regulations, all of which are implemented with view toward compliance and fraud and risk prevention. As resources are financed by a charitable foundation and taxpayers, the institute has a special responsibility towards the proper usage of money and transparency and careful documentation of spendings and incomes. The Aithyra Managing Director and the administrative units are the contact point for fiscal authorities, tax advisors and financial auditors to prove the institute’s ability to administer its budget and third-party funds according to law and good practice. Standard operating procedures (SOPs) of all administrative and scientific units are implemented to ensure compliance with laws and regulations and to assess whether performance goals are achieved.
