Happy Birthday, AITHYRA!

Today we celebrate the 1st Anniversary of AITHYRA, that was founded as Research Institute for Biomedical Artificial Intelligence of the Austrian Academy of Sciences with generous support of the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation on 16.9.2024.

A lot has happened during the first year, from the AI-generated name of AITHYRA (as daughter of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and Asclepius, the god of medicine), to the creation of AITHYRA’s logo and corporate identity, to the move into the Marxbox as interim location until the Life Science Building is constructed on the VBC campus, and the hire of a Life Science Director, several Admin and Scientific Support Members, our Robotics Lab Head and the Starting PIs. Only recently we have had our first Faculty retreat, and the AITHYRA Symposium #AIforLifeScience with great speakers line up.

AITHYRA is growing and becoming increasingly active. We would like to thank all our stakeholders, partners, and friends for their tremendous support and trust in our development. We thank the Boehringer Ingelheim Foundation, the City of Vienna, and our mother organisation, the Austrian Academy of Sciences, for bringing the institute to reality, our beloved sister CeMM as a source of creativity, courage and corporate culture, and the siblings IMP, IMBA and partner institutes on the VBC campus for their kind and inspiring scientific neighborhood. Also the international scientific community is paying more and more attention to AITHYRA, which brings with it great honor and high expectations.

Today the AITHYRA team is treating itself to a piece of cake.
Happy Birthday, AITHYRA, the institute we love, cherish and pamper.
