Georg Winter, AITHYRA Director LS, has been invited to present at the opening plenary session at the AACR Meeting. The Annual Conference of the American Association for Cancer Research took place in San Diego, USA, from 17-22 April 2026. With his research Georg is putting chemistry at the forefront of cancer research.
Georg Winter has pioneered targeted protein degradation and molecular glue strategies, engineering small molecules that reprogram E3 ligases to selectively eliminate disease-driving proteins. In his talk he discussed proximity-inducing therapies that lead to protein degradation, such as PROTACs and molecular degraders, and noted that as of 2025, more than 25 PROTACs are in clinical investigation. The work in targeted protein degradation is not only advancing fundamental research but also paving the way for practical applications.
